Bed rest and fast food

Shitballs, I'm on bed rest!!! But at least I was also prescribed milk shakes and fast food. So I had my first doctors appt. with the specialist and things went pretty well. Everything is so far so good but the doctor put me on bed rest as standard procedure for a case like mine. I'm with the Phoenix Perinatal Associates Group which is the # 1 in the nation and will be delivering at the Good Samaritan, the # 1 hospital in the nation for multiple births. The doctor says that by putting their patients on bed rest is one of the reasons that they have such a fantastic success rate, and for now all I am allowed to do is go from say the bedroom to the couch, go to the bathroom, sit up while I eat, and take one shower per day.
I also am supposed to get fat. He wants me to get as fat as possible because I will soon be so full of babies and I will not be able to eat and the babies will need to live off of my body fat. I should gain 50 to 75 pounds and 75% of the weight should be gained by week 24 before I get too big. Problem is I've only gained like 22 pounds and I'm already 22 &1/2 weeks along so I am way behind. I wouldn't be except in order to see this specialist I needed a referral from my obgyn and he kept putting it off. He told Candy (my sister in law) who's due next week that the reason he's been hanging on to us for so long is because he likes Ryan and I and wanted to keep us as long as he could meanwhile telling me that I should only be eating 2200 calories, which I didn't believe so I have been eating more than that anyway. My new doctor says to eat Ice cream, fast food, protein shakes, anything that is fattening and has a lot of calories and don't worry about nutrients like getting any veggies or anything like that because I am taking my vitamins. so on the way home from the clinic we went to Claim jumper (my last meal out I suppose) and I got the most fattening burger and a milkshake.
By the way I am blogging this from a lounge chair Ryan brought in from outside for me so I'm not cheating and sitting at a desk.

Nice to know your Dr likes you huh??? Oh my Sun, bed rest..This is going to be interesting for the two of you. But, follow the Dr's order's if he has that much success he knows what he is doing. You need to get some of those hand held games that you use to play when we went to Chelan.
Fun that you can eat what ever you want and know that you are doing something good for the girls. We love you tons and are thinking of you both. Wish you could be here lazing with us on the beach..love mom

I told my Mom that if anyone can handle bed rest it would be you and I meant it in a good way. I just think that you will make the best of it and after talking to you today, it sounds like you kept yourself busy which is a good step in the right direction. It's a blessing... this time to do nothing and eat anything. For reasons that are all too obvious!

Thanks guys, It's not going to be easy for us but at least I'm set. I have a computer, just ordered lots of books from barns & noble and it's funny that you mentioned the hand held games because I said the same thing to Ryan and my mom on our way home from the docs. I just need all the good shows to have new episodes again and life would be perfect. Monk starts again this month and I'm stoked!

Wow! things are sure moving along quickly. I have to say I was quite surprised at the drs orders of the types of food to eat. You look beautiful in that picture and definately have the "pregnant glow" I love your optimism and good attitude. Time is key with carrying 3 baby girls! You are gonna be soo smart when you get done reading all your books...look out Ryan!

Sundi, Bed Rest! You get to eat whatever, yeah! Just know that you will look fab no matter what! You are beautiful and know that the weight is going to those little nuggets and will fall right off after birth with all the running around you will have feeding, changing, and everything else:) I am so proud of you! I wish a DR. would tell me that, he he. If you need some book ideas, I love to read and I could recommend soooo... many! I am hoping to come down to Arizona in June since I won't be that far along with my own pregnancy. Keep us posted and take pictures on you way back from the bathroom before you have to go sit back down:) Call me soon.

hey Brittany, anytime's good as I'm not going anywhere. Plus my friend Lisa gave me that breast pump and I'm hoping you can show me how to use it and tell me which replacement parts I might need since I think you have the same pump.

Is it the double electic pump? If it is, it's quick and easy - def. get's the job done!! One of the best purchases we made!

Oh, thank God for breast pumps! Sundi, I'm not jealous that you're pregnant, but I'm definitely jealous that you are ordered to put on 50-75lbs...long live fast food. Enjoy, because it's the last meal you'll get to eat uninterrupted for quite some time. Aren't you getting sick of people telling you what's in store for you;). You're a real trooper Sun, way to hang in there. It's all going to be SOOOOO worth it...this I promise!!!

Brit, I think so but that's how confused I am I don't even know for sure. And Megan, you are so right how everyone says all the things that I will lose with kids such as sleep and so forth. At least I know a little of what's to come. By the way to everone. I will blog again just as soon as I have something exciting to share. I'm not sure if what was for dinner or what positions I slept in today count as blog worthy but I'll try to think of something.

I would love to hear someone tell me that I need to put on some weight. That's never been an issue for me. Enjoy those milkshakes and fast food while you can.
